STRATSEC LAB ACCREDITED BY NATA

21st January 2008

We are pleased to announce that the stratsec lab has been officially accredited to AS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories by National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), Australia's Government-endorsed provider of accreditation for laboratories and similar testing facilities.  This also means that the stratsec lab meets the principles of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems – Requirements, as the management system requirements in AS/NZS ISO/IEC 17025 (section 4) are aligned with ISO 9001:2000.

The stratsec lab was established in March 2007 within the stratsec Canberra office to provide expert technical assurance services that ensure appropriate measures are in place to reduce risk to our client’s information systems.  The NATA accreditation ensures that the stratsec lab operates under stringent quality controlled processes and procedures addressing both management and technical aspects of our offered services.

stratsec Managing Director, Mr Peter Lilley said that, ”This is a great achievement for the company.  On a local level our NATA accreditation delivers a high level of assurance for our clients in the processes and methodologies we apply to meet their testing needs and in the results we provide.  “On an international level, it creates opportunity for stratsec to compete globally against other accredited testing facilities.  At the same time, international companies, particularly in Europe and North America, can take advantage of the lower Australian dollar in meeting their testing requirements.

With the achievement of the NATA accreditation to ISO-IEC 17025, the stratsec lab has now completed all the requirements to be granted a full license under the Australasian Information Security Evaluation Program (AISEP).  The AISEP is a commercial IT security evaluation testing program which is managed by DSD’s Information Security Group, Australia’s national authority on information security.  All evaluations are conducted against the requirements specified in ‘ISO standard 15408’, the Common Criteria for IT security evaluations.

Mr Aleks Lubiejewski, stratsec Lab Manager said “stratsec testers come from a diverse background, which puts us in the enviable position of fully understanding our customer requirements. With experts in all aspects of testing, including functional testing, acceptance testing and formal evaluation, NATA Accreditation was our logical next step.

The stratsec lab offers a range of controlled technical assurance services including:

  • ICT Security evaluations  (NATA endorsed),
  • Acceptance Testing (NATA endorsed);
  • Functional Testing (NATA endorsed);
  • Vulnerability Assessment,
  • Penetration Testing;
