stratsec wins gold

Canberra Australia, Australia's leading cyber security consulting company, stratsec, has won the BAE Systems Chairman's Gold Award for transferring best practice to Malaysia.

The team won for transferring the Common Criteria Process to Malaysia.    The Common Criteria is a world recognised standard for testing the security of computer networks and devices.  stratsec established and runs Australia’s premier Common Criteria Testing Laboratory.

stratsec established its Kuala Lumpur office and testing laboratory to assist Malaysia to become a full member of the international Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement. With help from stratsec, Malaysia achieved Certifying Authority status in September this year, joining 26 other countries with that status.

Head of the winning team, Doug Stuart, said it is gratifying to win the award for several reasons.

"We have helped Malaysia become an acknowledged force in global cyber security efforts; it is great recognition that stratsec is truly a BAE Systems company since joining the global Defence and Security company in January this year; and the award gives our Malaysian team a great boost as it expands to become a stratsec business delivery hub in Southeast Asia."

stratsec, the 2010 Telstra Business of the Year, was acquired by BAE Systems in January this year.  The Company has now grown to over 100 cyber security specialists.  stratsec is BAE Systems Australia's cyber security arm.
