With stratsec team members including Australian delegates to the APEC Telecommunications & Information Working Group, Security and Prosperity Steering Group (APEC TEL SPSG), and previously the e-Security Task Group (eSTG), stratsec through its merger with SIFT, is well positioned both nationally and in the region to advise on matters of e-Security in the telecommunications industry.

As a member of the Internet Industry Association (IIA), and sponsor of the IIA Security Portal, stratsec has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the development and growth of the telecommunications industry in Australia.  In 2010, Nick Ellsmore, stratsec CTO, was elected to the Board of the Internet Industry Association, increasing our involvement with the organisation.

stratsec understands the legal and regulatory environment within the telecommunications industry, including the roles of legislative and regulatory bodies including: the Department of Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy (DBCDE); the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA); Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC); and the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman; as well as a self-regulatory environment led by the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF).

With our in-depth knowledge surrounding the requirements for lawful interception, including having authored an Intelligence report on Internet Service Provider (ISP) Law Enforcement Assistance Obligations, stratsec is well placed to advise on information and IT security governance issues within the telecommunications industry.

In addition to this technical level knowledge - notwithstanding a detailed understanding of both existing telecommunications technologies, and new technologies such as Voice over IP and other TCP/IP communications protocols - we provide a strong technical capability to review and assess the implementation of such systems.
