Critical Security Risks Identified in Windows

Leading Australian information security company stratsec has released details of critical security flaws in all versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system. This follows security flaws released for Adobe Acrobat and VMWare platforms in the last two months. stratsec is proud to be an Australian firm conducting internationally-significant IT security research.

stratsec Releases VMWare Advisory; Recruits Leading Researcher

A security advisory released today by stratsec warns of a security weakness in a third party component used by many software companies including VMware, potentially allowing the theft of user credentials. The vendor of the third party component - WebWorks - worked with VMWare and stratsec for approximately six months to develop the necessary patches to minimise the security risk to their clients.

stratsec features at Hack in the Box Conference, Malaysia

stratsec consultants, Paul Theriault and Alex Kouzemtchenko, featured recently at the Hack in the Box conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, presenting two keynote presentations at the forum: Browser Ghosting Attacks - Haunting Browsers with Acrobat and Flash (Paul) and Building a Blind TCP/IP Hijacking Tool (Alex).

Security 2009 Conference and Exhibition

stratsec CTO, Nick Ellsmore, presented a keynote address at the above conference (25 August 2009), 'Managing a catastrophic loss of data loss'.  This joint presentation examined the causes of data loss and what can be done to prevent it, along with what is considered best practice, and what can be done in the aftermath to recover from the situation. The presentation also considered the legal ramifications of data loss especially with the current climate of fining companies for declaring breaches.

stratsec hosted close to 100 government and industry representatives at the Boathouse in Canberra on 11 August 2009 for the much anticipated Managing Risk Through Assured Products seminar; a flagship event on the stratsec calendar.
